Program Overview
Course Offerings
16 one-hour modules comprising topics in the following foundational content categories:
- Patient Care in Proton Therapy
- Safety in Proton Therapy
- Procedures in Proton Therapy
Clinical Component
Participants are required to complete clinical procedures and treatment planning exercises from the categories below.
Specific Procedural Requirements Include:
- Observation of Patient Immobilization Devices:
- Thermoplastic mold
- Custom immobilization
- Treatment Planning by Site:
- Intracranial (Neural pathways)
- H&N/PNS
- Mediastinum
- Peripheral Lung/Chest Wall
- Breast
- Abdomen (Liver/Pancreas), near the diaphragm
- Pelvis (GYN/Rectal/Prostate)
- CSI
- Re-Irradiation scenario
- A total of 20 treatment planning exercises (overall) are required:
- 10 separate exercises involving the evaluation of existing or previously produced plans with a one-page written description of that review.
- 10 separate new treatment plan designs using anonymized patient data.
- A total of 20 treatment plans with at least 2 plans per each disease site, but no more than 3 per any site.
- An oral descriptive element may be required for any of the treatment planning exercises.
